Skiathos

Skiathos, Sand & Sea

Located in the Sporades chain of islands, Skiathos features over sixty beaches, many of which consist of fine golden sand. Most of these are accessible on the coast road which stretches from Skiathos town to Koukounaries and are served by the excellent bus route which has a regular service in each direction. Koukounaries, located at the last stop is considered one of the best beaches globally and is a must see location whilst visiting the island. Whilst Koukounaries can get crowded during the height of the summer months, other quieter beacjes such as Mandraki and Eleni are located a short walk away on the North Eastern side of the island.

The boat “Agios Nikolaos” will be departing from the port of Skiathos at approx. 10.00 in the morning, heading off in the direction of Skopelos. After the arrival at Skopelos, the guests will first visit the main town and then the guide will take them for a walk through the narrow picturesque streets telling them about the history and traditions of the island. You will also have some free time for shopping or visit one of the numerous churches of the island. Approx. 1 h and 45 mins will be spent at the town of Skopelos.

Sacred Skiathos

A tour for those interested in local history, folklore and culture.

The evening begins at the church of The Archangels, where you get a wonderful view and a short tour of the interesting, old church. We then continue to the Church of The Virgin Mary and after we have visited it, there is a short footpath that will take us down to the Evagelistria Monastery, built to be well hidden from pirates in a lush valley. This is the only monastery on Skiathos that is still active and it has a fascinating 200-year history, starting with the making of the first Greek flag.

After a tour of the premises and the local museum, which houses a rare collection of icons, relics and traditional costumes, you will get some time on your own before departing.

All in all a lovely way to spend part of your evening in peaceful and tranquil surroundings, untouched and undisturbed by the modern way of life.
