Manthos Restaurant, San Stefanos, Corfu

The Manthos Restaurant is located on the beach road in San Stefanos. It was one of the first to open in the village over 30 years ago. The restaurant was recently taken over by Andreas Avlonitis and his family. After an extensive refurbishment, Manthos is now offering a new and unique dining experience for both new and returning customers. The restaurant is located on the beachfront, overlooking one of the most beautiful sunset points on the island! Manthos serves a wide range of food from simple Greek starters to more elaborate seafood and traditional Corfu dishes. These are all prepared with care in our kitchen and delivered straight to your table.

Manthos also features a beach front terrace with sunloungers and parasols for our customers. San Stefanos is located at the North West tip of the island, around an hour from the international airport. Formally a small fishing community, the village features a large sandy beach with shallow waters, which makes it ideal for families. Boat hire and water sports are also available on the beach. There is a small harbour located just along the coast road from Manthos restaurant and it is here that the freshly caught fish are unloaded before making the short journey to the village kitchens.

With our unique beachfront location, we are open for lunch and on into the evening where you will be able to view the sunset from your table. Please check out our facebook page and we look forward to welcoming you to Manthos restaurant during your holiday in San Stefanos.

Roda, Corfu

Roda is located on the North Coast of the Ionian Island of Corfu. Traditionally a fishing village, Roda maintains it’s traditional charm. The village is fronted by a large sandy beach which runs the length of the village, narrowing and turning more as it runs into the neighbouring village of Acharavi. Bars, cafes and Tavernas can be found on the road which leads to the sea front but for a more traditional Greek experience, the tavernas in the old part of the village can provide beach side dining with a unique atmosphere.

Ten Reasons to visit Corfu-part one

The most northerly of the Ionian Islands, Corfu is one of the most popular destinations for visitors from Europe and beyond.

In part one of Ten Reasons to visit Corfu, we start with Corfu Town and nearby Kanoni (you fly over it when landing). Corfu Town, steeped in History has its own Cricket Pitch, Fortress and the old town network of streets to get lost in.

Halikounas, located in the South West of the Island features a tranquil beach which backs onto the peaceful Lake Korison. Some of the Islands best wine as made here amongst the vinyerds

Kaiser Bridge and the Achillion Palace. To the south of Corfu Town, the Kaiser bridge can be found on the Coast road in the Perama area. The actual bridge is long gone but the impressive pier still remains. The Kaiser Bridge is directly below the Achillion Palace, (birthplace of Prince Phillip) and well worth a visit for its classical Architecture and gardens.

Barbati Beach, to the north of Corfu Town features a stretch of beach backed by a couple of tavernas with plenty of parking. Famous for its water sports in high season, the village of Barbati is located a short way uphill on the main coastal road.

Kalami, is located a little further up the Eastern coast of Corfu. Featuring a fine shingle beach, one of the main features of the village is the White House, which was once home to Lawrence Durrell. The White House is now home to a Taverna, where you can dine at the water’s edge.

Ten Reasons to visit Corfu-part two

The most northerly of the Ionian Islands, Corfu is one of the most popular destinations for visitors from Europe and beyond.

In part two of Ten Reasons to visit Corfu, we start with Kassiopi and nearby Avlaki. Located on the north easterly coat of the island.

Kassiopi features a pleasant crescent shaped harbour where you can rent small motor boats to explore the coastline (some of the Durrell's series was filmed close by) The beach can be found just around the headland after a short walk. A larger stretch of sand can be found at Avlaki, located just to the East of Kassiopi. Tourism here is definitely low key, with just one Taverna located behind the beach.

Aghios Gordis can be found on the West side of the island and shouldn’t be confused with several other villages of a similar name. The approach along the hill top provides a stunning view of the bay below. The beaches in the south of Corfu are excellent and this one is no exception, with tavernas overlooking the sandy beach below.

Arillas features another fine sandy beach and can be found further north. Arillas has retained it’s traditional Greek village atmosphere and some of the best sunsets can be seen from the beach.

Paleokastritsa is probably one of the most well known of the Corfu resorts, being spread along its four main bays. Head to the end of the village for the best sandy one where you’ll be able to rent a motor boat to explore the numerous coves and bay in the area. Here, you will also be able to visit the hill top monetary with outstanding views of the bay below.

Arillas, Corfu

In the North West of Corfu, just North of Paleokastritsa, three of the islands village sit behind some of the best sandy beaches on the Island, San Stefanos, Agios Georgios and Arillas are best accessed from the main town by way of the road over the Pandokrator, the mountain which dominates the Northern part of the island. A pleasant drive through the olive groves will bring you to the three villages, each set in its own bay. In the second part of some videos I am featuring of the area, Arillas is located in between its two neighbours and is popular with repeat visitors, both for its fine sandy beach and its traditional village atmosphere.

San Stefanos, Corfu

Located in the North West of Corfu, San Stefanos (or Agios Stefanos) ticks all the boxes for a Greek Island Holiday. Just an hour from Corfu’s airport the village is set behind almost 2km of golden sand which features sun beds and water sports.

A selection of Tavernas, shops and bakeries can be found in and around the village. Some of the best sunsets in Corfu can be seen from here (and neighbouring Arillas) and after dark, San Stefano has a wide selection of Tavernas and restaurants for all tastes.

Corfu

As one of the Ionian island most popular destinations, Corfu has much to offer from its mountainous North, with spectacular cliffs and rocky coves to its more rural South, with some of the best beaches you could wish for.

For history buffs, the island is steeped in history with many locations available including the Achcelion (birth place of Prince Philip) and the Kalami, where you can actually dine at Lawrence Durrell former home, the White House.
