Athens
Athens is the perfect city destination for a short break. It offers an eclectic mix of culture, history and gastronomy. The closest islands to Athens are the Saronics and Aegina - they can be reached by ferry in just 40 minutes, making a short stay in the city followed by a relaxing break by the sea very easy.
Our tour takes in the sights, all within walking distance of the central area which includes the Acropolis with the world famous Parthenon before visiting the colourful market area of Monesteraki, home to a daily market. A short walk will take you to the Academy of Athens and the National Library, both well worth a visit and located between Omonia and Syntagma square, one of Athens most famous landmarks where crowds gather for the changing of the guard.
Adjacent to the Parliament building are the National Gardens, a peaceful retreat in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Athens where the visitor will find mature gardens, ponds and even a mini zoo. The Panathenaic Stadium is accessible for a small charge and is located next door to the the Temple of Olympian Zeus.
Our tour finishes with a visit to the Plaka area with its numerous restaurants and Tavernas and entrance to the Parthenon.
